Once you get skillful with roses, uses along the psychological-psychic boundary begin to suggest themselves. Everything in your emotional and imaginal life and the world is potential rose fodder. You can put vexatious cultural fixations into roses and then explode them in order to release their energy. It is not a matter of whether the subjects are “good” or “bad” per se; it is a matter of whether they hold stuck heirlooms that can be freed for better use. There is such ubiquitous crap being mass-produced nowadays that collectively it will overwhelm your psyche if you don’t regularly transform and transfer its static or “buy” energy. The inventory will differ by person, but here are a few suggestions from my particular persuasion—you can flip the list around to reflect your own view: oil companies, traffic jams, cars, American Idol, capital gains, particular celebrities or politicians, hedge funds, anti-immigrant fervor, political propaganda, dopey advertisements, leaf-blowers, Christmas shopping, the Tea Party, Bank of America, Little League, bullies, bosses, stock brokers, Jeopardy, video games, student debt, aisles of Walmart merchandise, sweetened foods, sports hooligans, credit-card interest, flags (Confederate, Stars and Stripes, or those of fascist polities), GMOs, taxes, personality magazines, labels (designer or hip-hop), supermodels, slogans, lyrics, loud rap, SUVs, RVs, Citizens United, cups of coffee, mean girls, porn shops, expensive jewelry, solicitors, golf courses, narcissistic psychobabblers, New Age prophets, Amazon.com.

These are not “wrong” per se, and you can’t meddle with their reality anyway. All you can change is your contribution of your own energy to that reality and the small part you play in creating it. You can shift that quantum and then see what happens in yourself or the world. When you put something, even minor or kitsch, in a rose and destroy it, you arouse and get use of the energy supporting and maintaining the fucked-up state of it in your aura—again not necessarily the collective auras of the culture or the universe at large, but your aura. Sometimes the effect is startling. The transformation occurs magically—shazam alakazam, yours for the asking.

Anything can get trapped in your aura—that is, in your living energy field—and then hold you hostage to its own stagnant or obsolete beliefs and, more importantly, the activity patterns arising from your resistance to it. Remember, you are not blowing up the things themselves, only the form of their energy pattern that is stuck in you as well as your programmatic responses to it.
